What is an SDK?

SDK is the abbreviation for software development kit. It is a set of development tools that make it easier to develop applications for a particular platform. Apple and Google, for example, offer a development kit for iOS and Android.

What are examples of an SDK?

A development kit contains several tools for software developers. In the kit for iOS, for example, you will find Xcode, in which a programmer can develop apps. There is also an iOS Simulator to test apps for iPhone or iPad, as well as an interface builder to design the UI with a simple drag and drop system.

These companies also offer one or more development kits:

  • Java;
  • Android;
  • Mac OS X;
  • Windows 10.

An SDK should not be confused with an API: an API is a functionality that lets one application communicate with another. An SDK gives you tools to develop software for a particular platform.

An SDK is indispensable for creating iOS and Android apps

Brthrs Agency makes full use of development kits to develop apps and websites. The tools from Apple and Google are essential to create quality apps for iOS and Android. In addition to official development kits, we also deploy proven frameworks and tools for our digital products. For example, consider Laravel for writing PHP.
